Project Examples

City Recreation Center — Douglas Electric was the contractor of choice when officials in a southeast Michigan city finalized massive renovation plans for a state-of-the-art, 88,000 square-foot recreation center, slated to open in fall 2007. About 12 miles of electrical conduit will feed features such as a pool and water slide, rock-climbing walls, ice-skating rink, kitchen and concession areas. Five to 10 Douglas Electric staffers are on site daily, wiring the facility section-by-section, working through design changes, coordinating with the other trades, and communicating with the client.

Local Marina — A competitive bid won the job and sent Douglas Electric staff out on the water throughout the winter.  With extensive underground conduit through tough soil conditions and power boxes that look like light houses installed on the piers, Douglas Electric wired a marina that powers hundreds of boats and yachts.

Southeast Michigan Plastics Company — It's good when companies expand, yet explosive growth can wreak havoc on infrastructure. An automotive plastics company needed to consolidate three operations into one building — quickly.  Douglas Electric reviewed the facility and helped the owner take a long-term view of growth.  We developed a plan for electrical services and generators that will power the company into the future.  Douglas Electric coordinated with local inspectors and wired a 60,000 square-foot facility on schedule for a much-relieved customer.

A Southeast Michigan chemical company relies on Douglas Electric to keep its operations running.  When it added four large pieces of equipment, Douglas Electric met its time constraints while working 40 feet in the air.  When it had to schedule an outage to upgrade its facilities, 20-25 Douglas Electric staff members worked 16 hours a day, Thursday through Sunday.  When a chemical company lost power at midnight, Douglas Electric was on site within 2 hours, immediately installed a generator, and restored full power that afternoon.

Cellular Mega Switch — All systems go!  The prototype mega switch was approved, and a project that normally would take up to 18 months was compressed into eight.  Douglas Electric delivered, working safely, effectively and with great flexibility through a series of constant deadlines and project changes.

We want you to think of Douglas Electric every time you have electrical needs. That’s why we deliver high-quality service, every time. At Douglas Electric, integrity matters, and you’re the priority.

It's a people company, with a good work environment. I've worked for other contractors, and they weren't interested in repeat business. That changes the whole dynamic. At Douglas Electric, repeat customers are the goal.
