Training & Safety
From our OSHA-certified, on-staff trainer, to master electricians and licensed journeymen, to staff members with bachelors’ degrees in construction management, Douglas Electric takes training and safety seriously.
It’s a matter of ensuring the safety of our employees and yours, and also of providing you with the highest-quality work possible.
Features of our training and safety focus include:
- Ongoing, 10-hour annual training program for every employee.
- In-house training facility so we can teach and update our own people, the right way.
- A safety manager who’s been with Douglas Electric 26 years and is OSHA-certified.
- 100% participation in monthly safety meetings.
- Staff longevity — most of our employees have worked together 10-15 years.
- Four-year apprenticeship program — Douglas Electric helped form
the Association of Builders and Contractors' first apprenticeship
training program in Southeast Michigan.
- We’re a drug-free workplace and regularly test employees.
Most of our work isn’t visible when it’s done, yet it has to work well for the customer and be completed safely. When we drive past a finished, spectacular building, we’re proud of what you can't see — all of the conduit that’s hidden behind the bricks, plaster, and paint.

Douglas Electric treats its employees well, and we deliver a good work ethic in return. I've worked the same site for 16 years. We want our customers to recognize us. And we want to know them well, so when they need service, we can respond quickly.
